Marketplace Now Live

We're proud, excited and happy to launch our Marketplace. It's been in the works for a long time, and we're happy to finally unveil it to you.

The Marketplace is the next step in growing our developer community to new heights. It will build the LemonStand eco-system, creating opportunities for many to build a business around the platform.

A place to buy modules and themes

This is the go-to place to find LemonStand themes, modules and more. The LemonStand developer community will use the Marketplace as a centralized platform to distribute their creations, and solve the problem of licensing, sales, update management and more.

How it works

Just like LemonStand itself, we have made the Marketplace easy to use and highly integrated.

To purchase anything from the Marketplace, you must be logged in. Being logged in implies that you already have an account, which you can only get by purchasing a commercial LemonStand license, or acquiring a free developer's license.

Developers can learn more about how the Marketplace works and how they sell their products on it in the Marketplace documentation.

Marketplace Hosted Modules

After purchasing a module, the customer must bind it to a LemonStand core license that they own. This is easily done through the My Account area. To install the module, the customer only needs to log into their LemonStand and check for and install any updates. It will automatically find the binded module, download it and install it.

The Marketplace supports automatic licensing, update management, automatic delivery and more for Marketplace hosted modules.

Third-Party Hosted Modules

Authors can choose to host modules themselves if they like. When a customer purchases a module that is hosted by the Author, that Author must distribute the product to the customer directly. The Author receives the email address of the customer, and at this point we are no longer involved in the transaction.

Themes

Themes are quite simple to package up and sell or share in the Marketplace. The documentation explains how to package up a theme for the Marketplace.

How to start selling or sharing products in the Marketplace

You simply need to go to the new Author page in the My Account section. Sign up using the form, and begin submitting your modules and themes!

What should you build

We have implemented an area for people to suggest ideas for the developer community on the type of modules and themes that they would like to see.

This will help developers determine what the community real wants, so they can capitalize on thes opportunities.
