Can you describe DWND: What do they do? Why are they different? Was there anything unique about this website?

DWND (Due West Next Door) are fashion retailers in the so-hip-it-hurts Queen's St West district of Toronto. They came to us (iTristan Media Group) wanting us to help them bring out their existing branding design sense, but providing them with supply chain workflow process customization as well as a full range of Visibility Strategies SEO/SEM/SMM exposure.

In short, they wanted it all – and why not? They have a great brand and lots of exposure locally, but virtually no scaleability globally. So their workday consists of lots of duplication of labour already.

What we needed to determine before even choosing a platform, was the best way to scale their operation by integrating their point of sale system with their website. In short, their POS needed to speak with their site for product, category, images, content as well as sales, customer information and so on. Without this their workday would spin completely out of control.

In choosing LemonStand, we realized that it allowed for a fine control of custom programming and design within a framework structure. This is something we (at iTMG) have a fair bit of experience with and definitely knew we needed to avoid overly-controlling and rigid systems.

In the end DWND now has a POS system that speaks to their website all the time back and forth using LemonStand as its platform. It's a great solution for the client as it allows them to sell their entire inventory without duplicating labour re-entering their inventory.”

What is your overall impression of LemonStand?

"It's openness and clear dedication to abstracted development was the clear draw. We could make anything work and that was the draw. A clear departure from the closed CMS pseudo-systems, that really only present templated options that require a hacksaw to customize.”

How do you feel LemonStand compares to other carts?

“We have experience with OS Commerce; since the early days when it was even called The Exchange Project. While it has its huge community, its age is showing. With that age, the limitations were starting to hurt our ability to deliver what we were envisioning.”
